Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (Acts 8:35-37 KJV)
Let me share some thoughts on what God taught me today. What hinders you from your breakthrough? What hinders you from your miracle? What hinders you from your prosperity? What hinders you, brother, from attaining that which God has freely given to you? Sister, what hinders you? Our text is the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. Quickly let me bring the points I want to reach to you today.
1. Philip preached Jesus. First of all, he preached. He met the eunuch in confusion, but by the preaching of the Word brought understanding to the noble man. It is the preaching and teaching of God’s Word that brings men to understanding. For men to be saved, healed and delivered, they must be taught the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Secondly, he preached Jesus. He did not preach the latest news. He did not discuss the current global affairs. He did not talk about the religion. He preached Jesus. Who is Jesus? He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Who is Jesus? He is the Bread of Life. Who is Jesus? He is the Resurrection and the Life. Jesus is the Mediator between God and Man. There is no other name given to men by which they can be saved except by the Name of Jesus. There is healing in His Name, there is deliverance in His Name. By the Name, sins are blotted out and forgiven. O the wondrous Name of Jesus! How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds! Lives are changed by that Name. Yokes are broken by that Name. There is victory in that Name. There is power in that Name. Heaven rejoices at that Name. Earth is blessed because of that Name. Hell and demons tremble at that Name. The Name of Jesus is great. It can meet any need, solve any problem, change any situation. It can bless. It can heal. It can redeem. It can prosper. It can solve family issues. Call on that Name today. Prayers are answered when that Name is breathed in them. The bible says they that call on that Name shall be saved. God is waiting to hear you call on that Name today.
2. The eunuch saw water. Perhaps he had passed that road severally but this particular day it was different. He took note of this water that he must have passed by severally. That is what the preaching of the Word does. It enlightens. We call it revelation. It is the entrance of God’s Word that brings light and understanding. When God’s Word enters your heart, you will be enlightened. You will begin to see things you have never seen before. You will see your rights in Christ. You will see that you have already been blessed in Christ, that you have been redeemed, that sin no longer has mastery over you, that you are superior to Satan, that you have the ability to do all things. If you were a weakling, that story is changed. Greater is He that is in you. You can now do all things. You can run through a troop, you can leap over walls. Time and space will fail me from telling you what you have and what you can do because of what Christ Jesus has done. Can I ask you a question? Who placed the water that the eunuch saw? Obviously it wasn’t him. God did! God created that water and located it there. The eunuch did nothing but just saw what God had provided. Friend, that’s the same here. God is inviting you to see what He has provided for you. He is not calling you to do anything. You can’t do anything to improve on God. Just see His salvation. Just see His healing. Just see His deliverance. See His power. There is freedom from that sinful lifestyle. There is comfort for that tearful heart you have worn for long. God wants you to see the great provisions He has made for you in that Man Jesus. You don’t have to do anything to merit it. He has qualified you in Christ. You are qualified to be saved from sin, you are qualified to be healed, to be prosperous, to be successful, to be happy and joyful. You are qualified to be blessed. God has provided all things for you. Can you just see it?
3. The eunuch saw the water, but he asked a question, What doth hinder me to be baptized? That’s the crux of this message. You have seen the blessings in Christ, what hinders you from walking in the reality of what God has done for you? What has hindered you from your breakthrough? Do I hear you say, God, why am I not healed? Why is my marriage this way? Why do I feel so depressed? Why am I failing? Yes. The Ethiopian eunuch was in the same situation. He saw the victory but couldn’t walk in it. He saw the blessings of Christ but they never were a reality in him. He saw salvation, yet was on his way to hell. He cried out, what doth hinder me to be baptized? Let’s locate the hindrance. And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. Ah, that’s it. If thou believest with all thine heart. This reminds us of what Jesus once said
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (Mark 9:23 KJV)
If you can believe with all your heart. Can you believe? Now this second part is what struck me hard, can you believe WITH ALL YOUR HEART? Yes, CAN YOU BELIEVE WITH ALL YOUR HEART? That’s the hindrance. Perhaps that’s what has hindered you from your miracle. There’s a little doubt somewhere in your heart, a little uncertainty, a little fear in your heart. That was Philip’s response to the eunuch’s question. That was also Jesus’ response to His disciples
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Matthew 17:19, 20 KJV)
Have you located the hindrance today? I know you believe, but do you believe WITH ALL YOUR HEART? If you believe WITH ALL YOUR HEART, you can get your miracle.
4. The eunuch changed his position. The moment Philip told him the hindrance, he changed his position. You see, you can change your position in an instant. Quickly, he adjusted the state of his heart, and he released his faith. Faith must be released. How do you release your faith? By speaking what you believe inside your heart. Adjust the condition of your heart right away. If the eunuch did so in seconds, you too can. Don’t let unbelief rob you of your victory. Quickly make amends inside your heart. Quickly believe, and release your faith. Right now, I want you to adjust your heart, and release your faith. Begin by saying what the eunuch said. That will give Christ ascendancy in your life and free you from every shackle of Satan, then, you can release your faith for any other thing you so desire. Say this out loud: I BELIEVE WITH ALL MY HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD.
